17. Then Manoah inquired of the angel of the Lord, “What is your name, so that we may honor you when your word comes true?” 18 He replied, “Why do you ask my name? It is beyond understanding.” 19 Then Manoah took a young goat, together with the grain offering, and sacrificed it on a rock to the Lord. And the Lord did an amazing thing while Manoah and his wife watched: 20 As the flame blazed up from the altar toward heaven, the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame. Seeing this, Manoah and his wife fell with their faces to the ground. 21 When the angel of the Lord did not show himself again to Manoah and his wife, Manoah realized that it was the angel of the Lord. 22 “We are doomed to die!” he said to his wife. “We have seen God!” (NIV)
11. I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. (NIV)
Worship (Your Name)
Father God, Your name is beyond comprehension
It is too wonderful to know, way too high and too lofty for me
It is a mystery, beyond language or thought
It is far above all human knowing
You name is so deep, that our contemplations are lost in its immensity
So profound, that all of our pride is drowned in its infinity
Lord Jesus, You are called Faithful and True
But You have another name that is beyond understanding
It is a mystery that only You know about
No one can ever figure it out, for it is unknowable to the human mind
The highest science, the loftiest speculation, the mightiest philosophy
Cannot fathom the complexity of Your name
Lord God, what we do know of Your name is cause for gladness
And what we do not know remains cause for wonder and awe
You never tell everything about Yourself
For there is no name in any language that fully captures who You are
It is humbling, it is overwhelming, it is awe-inspiring
And it is overpowering - yet consoling
Other subjects we can compass and grapple with
But our plumb-lines simply cannot sound the depth of Your name
That is why, You will always remain
The “I AM WHO I AM”
Selah – I pause and calmly think about that

Song: Your Name – Paul Baloche
I just read the story of how God manifested Himself as the Angel of the Lord to Samson’s parents. He came to them as a mysterious stranger and talked with them and then vanished from their sight in a flame. Pretty cool, huh!
But more importantly was when they asked Him His name, He did not reveal it to them. And I remembered the apostle John’s vision, how Jesus also has a name that He does not reveal to anyone. There are obviously some things about God that are just too deep for us to wrap our finite minds around.
